An Unfair Trade Practice (UTP) is defined under Section 2(1)(r) of the Consumer Protection Act, 1986, whereas, Restrictive Trade Practice (RTP) is defined under Section 2(1)(nnn).

This is the fundamental difference between the two, unfair trade practices being a broader concept.
