Answer:
Different types of crops were grown in the different region because each crop region is defined on the basis of homogeneity in the soil type, relief, climatic conditions and rainfall, farming practices, labor available, irrigation facilities, etc. In India, since cotton grows well in black soil and hence regions with black soil like the Deccan plateau region grows more cotton. Rice is vastly grown in delta regions owing to fertile alluvial soil and abundant water. Coconut is grown in sandy coastal regions. Fruit orchards are present in hilly areas with a pleasant climate like Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh. Tea and jute are grown in eastern states owing to the rainfall and summer conditions there. Wheat and sugarcane are grown in areas with rich fertile soil and moderate rainfall. In some parts, shift agriculture and other regional indigenous forms of agriculture are practised.
