there are two types of catalyst i.e positive catalyst and negative catalyst
positive catalyst increase the rate of chemical reaction without influencing the product whereas negative catalyst slows the rate of chemical reaction without influencing the product

✍️ TYPES AND CHARACTERISTIC OF CATALYSTS :

(A) POSITIVE CATALYST : When a catalyst accelerates the rate of a reaction then it is called a positive catalyst. For example, the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide gets increased in the presence of Manganese dioxide.

(B) NEGATIVE CATALYST : When a catalyst retards or decreases the rate of a reaction then it is called a negative catalyst. For example, Phosphoric acid retards the rate of decomposition of hydrogen peroxide.
