Gamete produced by the male is the sperm which are produced by the male reproductive organ called testes.
The testes of a healthy male produces about 2 million sperms everyday. Sperms are thin ,motile, small structures. They have a tail at the back which enables them to move through various fluids secreted in the male body.
Gamete produced by the female is called the egg or ovum which is produced by the female reproductive organ called ovaries.
The ovum or egg of a healthy female produces 1 egg in a period of 28 days. Eggs are comparitively larger than sperms as they contain the yolk. They are immotile and round in shape. If the egg gets fertilised inside the body of the female, after the fusion of the male and female gamete, it results in pregnancy.
