Different ways of crop improvement are:-
HYBRIDISATION:-
It is the technique of crossing between two genetically dissimilar plants to produce a plant of a new variety.There are two types of hybridisation ie.
Inter-varietal cross-breeding and Inter-specific cross-breeding.
GENETICALLY MODIFIED CROPS(GMO):-
The crop into which the gene is introduced to obtain the desired result is called genetically modified crop (GMO) or transgenic plants.

* The 2 techniques which are used for crop variety improvement is HYBRIDIZATION and GMO.
- HYBRIDIZATION:
* Crossing between genetically dissimilar plants are called hybridization.
* There are 3 types
1) Intervarietal:- crossing between two different varieties.
2) Intergenetic:- crossing between two different genes.
3) Interspecific:- crossing between two species.
- GMO:
Introducing a gene to get desirable character.
GMO = Genetically modified crops.
