Mixtures: Elements or compounds just mix together to form a mixture and no new compound is formed. Mixture is a variable composition. It shows the properties of the constituent substances. For example, water in alcohol, sand and salt, etc.
Compounds: Elements react to form new compounds. In compounds, the composition of each new substance is always fixed. Every new substance has totally different properties, i.e., every substance us different from each other. For example, water, methane, sugar, salt, etc.
