The displacement of a moving object in a velocity time graph such as the one given above, can always be found by calculating the area under the curve made in the graph.

This are gives the displacement of the object in meters.

The calculation will be as follows:

Calculate the area of the figures formed by the curve mapping the movement of the body.

There are these figures:
-triangle
-rectangle, and
-two trapezia

Are of the triangle:

1/2bh  = 1/2 × 2 × 5 = 5m²

Area of the rectangle

L × W  = 4 × 5  = 20 m²

Area of the 2 trapezia

1/2(a+b)h × 2  = 1/2 (5+10)2  ×2  = 30m²

Add the areas of these regions of the curve to find the total area

  5m² + 20m² +30m²

= 55m²

Therefore this body's displacement = 55 meters
