* veins carry deoxygenated blood, towards the heart.
* these are dark red in colour.
* lumen is wide.
* valvular.
* veins start with capillaries.
arteries:
* arteries carry oxygenated blood, away from the heart.
* these are bright red in colour.
* lumen is narrow.
* non-valvular.
* arteries end in capillaries.
