Norther Plain is divided into 4 regions in the basis of

Bhabar-

  • The River water Descending from the mountains deposit Pebbles in narrow belt thus formed Bhabar Belt

  • The width of the narrow belt is about 8 to 16km

  • This Belt lies Parallel to slopes of shiwalik range

  • All the streams Disappeared here.

Terai:-

  • It lies south to the Bhabar belt.

  • The streams and rivers re- emerge here and create a swampy, marshy and wet region known as terai.

Bhangar :-

  • It is the largest part of the the Northern Plain.

  • It has a deposit of older Alluvium.

  • It is Present above the flood Plains and resemble terrace like feature.

  • The soil present in this region is called Kankar.

Khadar:-

  • It has newer deposits of Alluvium of the flood plains are called Khadar

  • The soil of this region is very fertile.

  • The soil of this region renewed almost every year.

  • This soil is ideal for intensive agriculture.
