The difference between the temporary hardness and permanent hardness in water is that the temporary hardness is caused due to the bicarbonates of calcium and magnesium ions. And the temporary hardness can be removed or treated by boiling the water at high temperature and also by adding the lime water to the hard water to treat it. Whereas Permanent hardness in the water is caused due to the sulphates and chlorides of calcium and magnesium. The permanent hardness of water is treated through some special methods which require proper arrangements of equipment followed by prior procedure.
