Neutralization is used in wastewater treatment to reduce the effluent created damage.

The process in which antacid tablets work to minimize the acidic reaction in the stomach is also the neutralization reaction.

Difference between acid and base

The base is the substance when dissolved in water, increase the concentration of OH- ions. Acids are the proton donor. Bases are the proton acceptor.

Answer:

acids :

  • turns blue to red
  • contains H+ ions
  • good conductor of electricity
  • sour taste
  • corrosive in nature

base :

  • turns red to blue litmus
  • contains OH- ions
  • bad conductor of electricity
  • bitter taste
  • all bases are not corrosive

when an effect of a base is nullified by an acid and vice versa is called Neutralization reaction.

ex:Acid+Base=salt+water

HCl+NaOH=NaCl+H2O
