In the active voice the subject of a sentence perform an action on the object. In passive voice the subject act upon(verb) by an object. Passive voice is used to draw attention to the action rather than doer of the action.

if a sentence is in active voice then the noun will be main as it performs the work and in passive voice the focus is on the work as it is main for example
riya sanged a song is in active voice here the noun 'riya' is main as she is performing the work of singing
but the song was sanged by riya is in passive voice and here we can see that the work is main the the song is sanged here we are not talking about riya who is singing the song here we are talking about the song which is sanges by roya
