• Canal irrigation is practiced on those lands which have fertile soil,large plains ans perennial river.The canal irrigation is mostly practiced in Northern India and in coastal low land and some parts of peninsular India.

✴Tank irrigation

• Tank irrigation is practiced in the rocky plateau area of India.Where rainfall is seasonal and Uneven.
• Tank irrigation is common in eastern Madhya Pradesh,Orissa ,Chhattisgarh,in the interior of Tamil Nadu and in some part of Andhra pradesh.
