Pb(NO3)2 +2HCl——→PbCl2 + 2 HNO3

Pb(NO3)2 +H2SO4——→ PbSO4 +2HNO3

Both Leab chloride and Lead Sulphate are insoluble in cold water.

But PbCl2 is soluble in hot water. But PbSO4 is insoluble in hot water also.

To summarize Lead chloride prepitate formed by the reaction of HCl.and Lead Nitrate will be soluble in hot water but insoluble in cold water.

But Lead Sulphate formed by the reaction of H2SO4 and Lead nitrate will be insoluble in both hot and cold water.

Thus we can distinguish HCl and H2SO4 , using Lead Nitrate.
