Explanation:

A general election is held to elect all or most of a political body, usually the legislature, of a country. In parliamentary countries this to elect a new parliament. In presidential countries it is to elect the legislature and possibly the president.

A constituent assembly is a type of constitutional convention in which all delegates are popularly elected. A constitutional convention is called to write or amend a country’s constitution.

In the case of India, the constituent assembly elected in 1946 also acted as India’s first parliament, so the election was basically of both types.
