Sheet erosion occurs when a thin layer of topsoil is removed. ... Gully erosion is the process by which gullies are formed. Hillsides are more prone to gullying when they are cleared of vegetation.

•Gully erosion:
Whereby on steep slopes in absence of any vegetation the force of water downhill devoloping a channel flow cutting the steep sided edge valley.
•sheet erosion:
Whereby due to heavy rain a thin film of water carries away topsoil as it moves along.
