Metals are ductile and malleable while non metals are not.

When metals react with water it's forms metal oxide + hydrogen gas or you can write

metal hydroxide +hydrogen gas.

While non metals do not generally react with water though they really very reactive in air. such non metals are stored in water like phosphorus as phosphorus catches fire when exposed to air.

when metals react with acid they form salt +hydrogen gas.

nonmetals generally do not react with acids.
