Mitosis consists of one stage whereas meiosis consists of two stages. Mitosisproduces diploid cells (46 chromosomes) whereas meiosis produces haploid cells (23 chromosomes). Mitosis produces two identical daughter cells whereas meiosisproduces four genetically different daughter cells.
