natural methods :

1. by roots: in some plants like sweet potato and dahlia ,the adventitious roots are used for vegetative propagation .

2. by leaves: plants like bryophyllum have small buds on the outer surface of the leaf which on coming in contact with the soil ,develops into small plants under favourable  conditions.

artificial methods:

1.Cutting : by cutting the stem of a particular  leaf in order to grow a new plant is called cutting . eg rose and jasmine.

2. layering  : in this method ,the elongated branch of a plant is planted in the soil and after few days a new plant arises from the part . eg. jasmine and grapes.

3.grafting : piece of a plant without root (scion) is joint (with the help of a cloth )   with the part of  a plant with roots (stock) in order to produce different varieties of plants of same kind. eg. different varieties of mangoes are grown by this method>
