The key difference between primary and secondary memory is that primary memory can be directly accessed by the CPU whereas, the CPU can not directly access the secondary memory. Theprimary memory of the computer is also known as the main memory of the computer. However, secondary memoryis known as auxiliary memory.

primary memory is the type of which accessed directly by the cpu. Ex. of primary memory is RAM, ROM. And secondary is a type of memory where data and information are stored in long term basis, Ex. of secondary memory is hard disk, CD, pendrive etc.
