The concentrated ore is heated for a long time in presence of excess air so that volatile sulphur and oxide impurities are removed this method is called roasting.........
The metal which are in the form of hydroxides or carbonates are heated strongly to remove volatiles impurities and corresponding oxides are obtained. This process is called calcination
