hey mate ✨✨✨✨✨
Smooth Endoplasmic reticulum(SER)-Have smooth surface & absence of ribosome on its surface,it is responsible for lipid metabolism(both anabolism & catabolism) steroid, fatty acid & phospholipid synthesis;Glycogenolysis(degradation of glycogen)& Drug detoxification(by the help of cytochrome P-450)or we can say SER is present where these component are active.
Rough endoplasmic reticulum(RER)-Have rough surface due to presence of ribosome, found where cells are engaged in protein synthesis(as well as membrane protein and glycoprotein);RER was earlier known as ergastroplasm.
I hope it will help you ✨✌️✨✌️✨✌️✨

ROUGH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM ( RER )
1) Rough endoplasmic reticulum is studded with ribosomes .
2) These are mainly composed of Cisternae .
SMOOTH ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM ( SER )
1) Smooth endoplasmic reticulum is not associated with ribosomes .
2) These are mainly composed of tubules .
