SALIVARY AMYLASE
- produced in the mouth
- acts on starch
- functional in slightly acidic pH(6.8)
- produces maltose from starch.
- gets deactivated in stomach due to acidic pH

PEPSIN
- produced in stomach
- acts on proteins
- functional in very acidic pH(1-2)
- produces proteose, peptones from protein.
- non functional in alkaline pH
