Pollination :

Pollination is a precursor process to fertilization which involves transportation of pollen grains from anther to the pistil

Self Pollination

  • Transfer of pollens from stamen to stigma of the same plant
  • Directly shed into the stigma
  • Seen in small flowers
  • Mode of reproduction would be autogamy

Cross Pollination

  • Transfer of pollens from stamen of one plant to stigma of another plant of same species
  • Transmitted by air, water and insects
  • Seen in large flowers
  • Mode of reproduction would be allogamy
