A boycott is done from outside the company. If you don't work at Tesco, you can't go on strike there, because they are not going to notice. You can refuse to cross the picket line (and should, incidentally, but that's another matter) but that would be you boycotting Tesco during the strike.

A primary (or direct) conflict involves striking against the strikers' place of employment. Secondary actions, or conflicts, are those against other entities. A boycott in response to a strike is a secondary conflict. Unions cannot coerce secondary, or neutral parties, to boycott.
