layers are meant for egg production. (egg production): broilers are primarily reared for chicken meat.

Need adequate lighting and healthy conditions
Can be utilised after 6-8 weeks after birth

LAYERS
Meant for layin eggs
Fed adequate roughage
Need healthy clean and not overcrowded conditions
Can be used after 20weeks i.e when the attain sexual maturity

Broiler- The purpose of breeding broiler are for meat.food requirements are protein, fats,rich in vitamin A and K.
Layer- The purpose of breeding layers are for eggs.food requirements are fibrous and cheap diet.
