Thrombosis occurs when a thrombus, or blood clot, develops in a blood vessel and reduces the flow of blood through the vessel, whereas, Embolism occurs when a piece of a blood clot, foreign object, or other bodily substance becomes stuck in a blood vessel and largely obstructs the flow of blood.

Hey!!
An embolus is anything that travels through the blood vessels until it reaches a vessel that is too small to let it pass. When this happens, the blood flow is stopped by the embolus. An embolus is often a small piece of a blood clot that breaks off (thromboembolus).
A thrombus, colloquially called a bloodclot, is the final product of the bloodcoagulation step in hemostasis. There are two components to a thrombus:aggregated platelets and red blood cells that form a plug, and a mesh of cross-linked fibrin protein.
