The function $\displaystyle\sf{f(x)=|x|}$ is not differentiable at $\displaystyle\sf{x=0}$ as the function has a sharp edge or vertex at this point.

Hence the derivative of $\displaystyle\sf{y=|x|}$ doesn't exist and so is the derivative of $\displaystyle\sf{y=x\cdot|x|}$
