central highland
1. The part of the peninsular plateau lying to the north of the Narmada river covering the major area of the malwa plateau is known as the central highland.
2. The vindhayan range bounded by the central highland on the south and the aravalis on the north west.
3. The central highland are wider in the west but narrower in the east.
4. The eastward extension of this plateau is locally known as bund elk hand and bang elk hand.
5. chotanagpur plateau marks the further eastward extension, drained by the damodar river.

Deccan plateau
1. The Deccan plateau is a triangular landmass that lies to the south of the river Narmada.
2. Satpura range flanks its broad base in the north while the mahadeve , the kaimur hills, and the maikal range from its Eastern extension.
3. It is higher in the west and slopes gently eastward.
4. An extension of the plateau is also visible in the north eastern part of the country.
5. It is seperate by a fault from the chotanagpur plateau.
