while metals are goodconductors of electricity and heat non metals are poor conductors unlike non metals, metals are ductile which mean they can be stretched into wires another difference between metals and non metals is that former as a metallic luster while the other does not

Following are the differences between metals and non metals:

Metals

  • All metals are solid, except mercury (which is mercury).
  • They generally have high melting as well as high boiling points.
  • They generally have a high density.
  • They are quite hard.
  • They posses a natural shine.
  • They are malleable and ductile.
  • They have high tensile strength.
  • They are good thermal as well as good electrical contractors
  • They are sonorous.

Non Metals

  • They may be solid, liquid or gaseous.
  • They generally have low melting as well as low boiling point.
  • They generally have a low density.
  • They are not hard ( except diamond).
  • They generally have a dull appearance.
  • They are not malleable and ductile; they are brittle.
  • They do not have tensile strength (except carbon fibre).
  • They are non conductors or insulators (except graphite).
  • They are not sonorous.

Hope it will help you
