HEY!

Sclerenchyma:

  • The cells of the Sclerenchyma tissue are dead.
  • Air filled cavities are absent.
  • The cell wall is very thick due to the deposition of lignin.
  • The cells of this tissue can be in different shapes and sizes.
  • They are generally located in the leaf veins, hard coverings of the seeds and can also be found surrounding the vascular bundle.

Aerenchyma:

  • Aerenchyma is a spongy tissue that forms spaces or air channels in the leaves, stems and roots of some plants.
  • It allows exchange of gases between the shoot and the root.
  • It has large air-filled cavities.
  • Aerenchyma is also widespread in aquatic and wetland plants.

Thx!
