HEY!
Sclerenchyma:
- The cells of the Sclerenchyma tissue are dead.
- Air filled cavities are absent.
- The cell wall is very thick due to the deposition of lignin.
- The cells of this tissue can be in different shapes and sizes.
- They are generally located in the leaf veins, hard coverings of the seeds and can also be found surrounding the vascular bundle.
Aerenchyma:
- Aerenchyma is a spongy tissue that forms spaces or air channels in the leaves, stems and roots of some plants.
- It allows exchange of gases between the shoot and the root.
- It has large air-filled cavities.
- Aerenchyma is also widespread in aquatic and wetland plants.
