WHAT IS A MERISTEMATIC TISSUE?
Meristematic tissues are the growing regions of the plants where cell division takes place to form new tissue.
HOW ARE THEY CLASSIFIED/DIFFEINTIATED?
They are classified as APICAL,LATERAL and INTERCALARY MERISTEM based on their LOCATION.
APICAL MERISTEM:
It is present in the growing tips of the stem and the root and increases the length of the stem and the root.
LATERAL MERISTEM:
It increases the girth(width) of the stem and the root. So, it is present in the lower part of the stem and in the roots.
INTERCALARY MERISTEM:
It is present at the base of the leaves on either sides if the nodes on twigs. It is found between the nodes and internodes of the stem.
So, we can differentiate between the 3 types of Meristematic tissues based on their location only...

hey here is ur answer
the meristem which occur at the tip of roots & shoots& produce primary tissues are called apical meristem
the meristem which occur between mature tissues is known as intercalary meristem.
growth in plant is largely restricted to specialized regions of active cell division is called meristem.
