Differrntiate passive and active transport
Answers
Answer:
Explanation:
Active transport moves molecules and ions from lower concentration to higher concentration with the help of energy in the form of ATP. On the other hand, passive transport moves molecules and ions from a higher concentration to lower concentration without any energy.
Passive transport :-
1. Movement of molecules along the concentration gradient (high concentration to low concentration).
2. No cellular energy required therefore, ATP is not required,
3. Simple diffusion and osmosis are required in passive transport as it doesn't require any special proteins carrier.
Active transport :-
1. Movement of molecules against the concentration gradient (low concentration to high concentration).
2. Cellular energy is required in the form of ATP (source - oxidative phosphorylation).
3. Sodium-potassium pump and proton pump are the examples of Active transport.
