A Principal Clause is an independent clause which can exist even without a subordinate clause. A Subordinate Clause is called a dependent clause because it cannot exist without the help of the principal clause. It begins with a subordinating conjunction.

Answer:Coordination joins sentences with related and equal ideas, whereas subordination joins sentences with related but unequal ideas. ... In a subordinate sentence, a comma is used to separate the main clause from the dependent clause if the dependent clause is placed at the beginning of the sentence.

Explanation:

Clause is a group of words that are related and it comprises a subject and a verb. Here, subject tells about the sentence, whereas the verb shows what the subject is doing. However, the clause is quite different from a phrase as it does not have a subject or a verb.

A subordinate clause is also referred as a dependent clause and it cannot stand alone as it does not express a complete meaning. However, a subordinate clause comprises a subject and a verb.
