Diffrence between bank rate and repo rate???

bank rate usually deals with loans, whereas, repo or repurchaserate deals with the securities. Thebank rate is charged to commercialbanks against the loan issued to them by central banks, whereas, the repo rate is charged for repurchasing the securities. i hope it helps

Usually both act as same , both are the rates at which RBI lends the loans to the commercial banks...

But some basic difference is as follows.........

** Bank rate provides the loans to banks without any social security ...
But repo rate loans are given with social security....

** Bank rate is generally a rate of discount...
Repo rate is generally a repurchase rate.....

** Bank rate is used to take up loans by banks for filmed immediate cash crunches...
Repo rate is used to some long credit borrowings...
