Vander waals equation ,

(PV + an^2/v^2 ) (V -nb ) = nRT

dimension of a = dimension of { PV. V^2 }= dimension of { PV^3 }

dimension of a = [M L^-1T^-2] [L^9]
=[M L^8T^-2]

and ,
dimension of b = dimension of V
= [ L^3]

The Van der waals equation of 'n' moles of a real gas is (P+aV2)(V−b)=nRT. Where P is the pressure, V is the volume, T is absolute temperature, R is molar gas constant and a, b, c are Van der waal constants. The dimensional formula for ab is:

(a) [ML8T−2]

(b) [ML6T−2]

(c) [ML4T−2]

(d) [ML2T−2]
