Answer:

  • Dimensional Formula of Impulse is [I] = M L T⁻¹.

Given:

  1. Impulse = Force Applied x Time taken

Explanation:

Impulse:-

It is defined as the product of Force & Displacement.

I = F x t

  • I denotes the Impulse.
  • F denotes Force Applied.
  • t denotes Time taken.

________________________

⇒ I = F x t

⇒ [I] = [F] x [t]

∵ [F = ma]

⇒ [I] = ma x t

Substituting,

⇒ [I] = (M x LT⁻²) x T

⇒ [I] = M L T⁻² x T

[I] = M L T⁻¹

So, the Dimensional Formula of Impulse is M L T⁻¹.

Note:-

  • Impulse has the same Dimensional formula as that of Momentum.
  • It has the same units as that of Momentum (kg - m/s).
