When an uncorked inverted empty bottle is dipped in a slanting in the water container the observation will be as follows:
- We will hear bubbling sound.
- We will see air bubbles coming out from the empty bottle.
- Water enters the bottle gradually.
- You will feel a pressures from the opposite direction.
- Since the space is occupied by air, water can not enter it but when you tilt the bottle the air comes out and bubbles are created and the empty space inside the bottom gets filled with water.
Reason:
- The bottle is actually not empty but it is occupied by air.
- When this air comes out slowly, its place is taken by water.
- This shows that air also occupies space.
Only when you put additional pressure, the pressure at greater depth will compress the air in the bottle so much that it takes lesser and lesser space, thereby leaving the room for water to enter the bottle.
