Direct and Indirect Speech
Change the following sentences into indirect speech.
1. "I met you yesterday”, Ankit told me.

stipulated sum tomorrow”, he said.

Ankit told me that he met me the previous day.

2. "It is too late for the movie”, he said.

He told that it was too late for the movie.

3. "I have given a reply to his letter”, he said.

He said that he had given a reply to his letter.

4. "I have got no money in my pocket right now; I think I will be able to contribute the stipulated sum tomorrow”, he said.

He told that he had got no money then and that he thinks that he'd be able to control the stipulated sum the next day.

5. “I cannot come for the picnic”, Kapil said.

Kapil told that he couldn't come for the picnic.

6. "I could fall down”, he said to me while climbing up the flight of steps of the temple.

He told me that he could've fallen down while climbing up the flight of steps of the temple.

7. "I have been watching a movie”, he said to his mother.

He told his mother that he had been watching a movie.

8. “Ali must rest," the doctor said to his father.

The doctor told his father that Ali must rest.

9. "I may lend you some money", she said to her friend.

She told her friend that she might lend her some money.

⭐ The conveyer is the second person to whom the first person told the compliment or a sentence.

✴ Indirect speech is a report on what someone else said or wrote without using that person's exact words.Words of direct speech will turn to indirect in the following way :

⭐ Today - That day

⭐ Last night - previous night

⭐ Said - Told

⭐ Will be - would be
