U can identify with very simple step.
This not needs diagram.
Take a piece of thin wood and place it facing towards the sky which means in upright position. And place it at that place where complete light of sun comes.
First mark the shadow.
Then after some time observe it and then mark other point of shadow.
Then observe the difference. And find the direction in which direction shadow falls
