Directions for questions I to 5: These questions are based on the table given along side which shows the number of fan regulators rejected and the percentage of those accepted by the quality control department, out of the total number of fan regulators assembled by five machines P, Q, R, S and T.

1. How many fan regulators assembled by machine R were accepted?

2.Which machine assembled the highest number of regulators?

3.Approximately by what percentage is the number of rejections of regulators assembled by P more than that of R?

4.By what percentage is the number of fan regulators assembled by T more than the total number of fan regulators assembled by P and Q?

5.What is the average number of regulators assembled by machines R and S?

To Find  : ow many fan regulators assembled by machine R.  were accepted?​

Solution:

Machine   Rejected           % acceptance   % rejection      Assembled  

P                  600                     90                 100 - 90 = 10   6000

Q                 1000                    80                 100 - 80 = 20  5000

R                  550                     90                 100 - 90 = 10   5500

S                  840                     86                 100 - 86 = 14    6000

T                  1650                    85                 100 - 85 = 15   11000

From machine R  10 %  rejected  

Rejected = 550

Total Produced = R

(10/100)R = 550

=> R = 5500

Accepted  =  5500 - 550  = 4950

4950  fan regulators assembled by machine R. were accepted

Machine T assembled the highest number of regulators

R rejection 550 , P rejection 600

=> ( 50/550) * 100 = 9.1 %

fan regulators assembled by T =  fan regulators assembled by P & Q together = 11000

average number of regulators assembled by machines R and S

= ( 5500 + 6000)/2 = 5750
