Anonymous: In vitro fertilization (IVF) is a complex series of procedures used to help with fertility or prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child. During IVF , mature eggs are collected (retrieved) from ovaries and fertilized by sperm in a lab.
Anonymous: Fertilization is the fusion of haploid gametes, egg and sperm, to form the diploid zygote. Note though there can be subtle differences in the fertilization process which occurs naturally within the body or through reproductive technologies outside the body, the overall product in both cases is a diplod zygote.

Explanation:

An advantage of oviparity is the number of eggs produced, because it is likely some of the offspring will survive. However, the offspring are at a disadvantage because they must go through a larval stage in which their location is directed by oceans currents.
