Electrons were discovered by a chathode ray experiment in which a gas was filled i n a discharge tube from which the pressure was reduced and the current of 10000 volt was passed due to which a glow was observed and then a zinc plate was put on. The anode and the observation was that the anode show green yellowish colour.

Then it was concluded that rays from cathode are moving to anode which were known as electrons
