Arid soils are found mostly in the region of dry climate whereas peaty soil is found in regions of tropical climate with dense vegetation. Arid soil is found to have low content of moisture whereas peaty soil has high content of moisture. Arid soil has low content of humus whereas peaty soil has high content of humus.

Arid soils are the soils of desert or semi-desert regions and colours varies from red to brown. (ii) The soil has sandy texture and salinity. As precipitation is very low the temperature is high and evaporation is faster making it lack in moisture and humus.
