The civilization was in the indian subcontinent it was discovered by archaeologists in the 1920 it developed along the indus river and the ghaggar hakra river. The first city to be discovered by excavation digging up was harappa and therefore this civilization is also known as harappan civilization.

  • Indus valley civilisation thrived along the Ghaggar-Hakra river and Indus river in the region of Pakistan and Northwest India. It is also known as Indus valley civilisation.  
  • Its bricks were used to construct the railway line between Karachi and Lahore.
  • Its ruins were first described by Charles Masson but its significance was realised later.  
  • Harappan Seals were discovered in 1912 by J Fleet which triggered the excavation under Sir John Marshall in 1921. This excavation led to the discovery of Harappan civilisation by Dayaram Sahni.
