Durkheim's views on social solidarity:

Emile Durkheim is a famous sociologist who is well-known for his thesis related to solidarity. He explains how individuals are influenced by ‘social facts’ like languages spoken, ethics and buildings.

Durkheim observed that social facts are ‘powerful in shaping’ the individual. These social facts are categorized as material and non-material.

The material social facts refer to visible things like buildings whereas non-materials refer to cultures, customs, and norms of the society.
