Elastic Collision:- it is the collision in which addition to momentum, total K.E. of the system is also conserved. During collision, bodies are deformed. But they regain their shape after colkision and hence, no energy is dissipated.

E.g:-

collision between sub atomic particles i.e.,collision b/w molecules of ideal gas can be termed as elastic collision.

Explanation:

Derivation:- consider two particles of mass m1 and m2 moving along same straight line with vel u1 and u2, such that u1 > u2. Hence collision will take place. Let v1 and v2 are the vel. after collision.
