grapevine is very interesting type of communication method if application of this is perfect. And if we talk about in family or college to understand this firstly we have to know it's limitation:-
1. create complexity in channelise the information.
2.less reliable information
3.create humor
4.conflict created
5. hard to identify start and end point of communication
So in college we have many college mates , family we have members and all these college mates and members create small group or web of small group and connected with each other through common college mate, member.
for example :- there is information about the function in college, family suppose I communicate to my friend group and in family to my close cousin now my friend group possibly have other group or mates like my cousin also have further there cousin or relatives and flow of information spread so drastic and connected. That's how grapevine work.
SOLUTION
1. Maintain start and end point.
2.proper identification of group that are created deliberately or by self
3. check interconnecting link of communication
4. information flow checker
5. small or brief communication should be done
