The following are the reasons for land degradation :-
1. Natural calamities : natural calamities such as floods and droughts lead to the removal of upper layer of the soil which leads to soil erosion and consequently the leads to the loss of land which we call LAND DEGRADATION.
2. Weeds: growth of unwanted plants by themselves , which during removal takes the upper layer of the soil and hence there is a loss of fertility. This leads to LAND DEGRADATION.
