Land degradation is a human-induced or natural process which negatively affects the land to function effectively within an ecosystem.land degradation deals with changes either in the

physical environment, or in crop yields and livestock outputs such as soil degradation,vegetation and water resource degradation.Human interventions which are causing land degradation are

(1)deforestation,

(2) overgrazing by livestock,

(3) mismanagement of agricultural land,

(4)overexploitation of the vegetative cover for domestic use,

(5) (bio)industrial activities.

Land degradation is the process in which the value of the biophysical environment is affected by the combination of human induced process acting upon the land. It is viewed as any change or disturbance to the land perceived to the deleterious and undesirable. Natural hazards are excluded as the cause however human activities can indirectly affect phenomena such as floods and bush fires.....
